Celtic boss Neil Lennon was delighted with his side’s 7-0 thrashing of St Johnstone on Saturday but the manager is determined to keep his players’ feet on the ground. The Hoops got the defence of their Scottish Premiership crown, which they are 1.31 to retain, off to the best possible start with a more than comprehensive victory over a lacklustre Saints side at Parkhead. Ryan Christie bagged himself a hat-trick, while Mikey Johnston, Olivier Ntcham, Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths also found the back of the net. Lennon was pleased with the display as his side made an electric start to their league campaign but the manager was keen afterwards to keep his players grounded ahead of tougher tests to come down the line. “It’s just been a great day. I’m not getting carried away, but it was an outstanding team performance,” he said. “Ryan Christie is playing really well right now. His first and third goals were sublime finishes. We are in a good place at the minute. It is a really good marker to put down for the rest of the season.” Celtic are next in action on Wednesday night when they travel to Romania to face CFR
